As a kid, they said if you die in your dream, you really die.

I remember that too. But then I died in my dreams on about 3 different occasions that I can recall - well my body died and I left my body so I don't know if that is the same thing. Death in a dream is a hard thing to define.

I too have died in dreams. Mine weren’t as historical, as your dream reminded me of the Minoan bull leapers, destined for the labyrinth. Mine were more about novel ways of being by killed by great amounts of mass at top speed. It became like an Acme cartoon. Each dream became a bit weirder, the mass less probable, each situation bordering on farce by the end.

I could only conclude that everything wasn’t as bad as it seemed. The dreams stopped shortly after.

Death dreams can be quite cathartic, or just random and strange.

two other dream deaths I had:

1: I was stabbed to death; that was pretty messed up.

I was in a giant skyscraper that collapsed to the ground. (interesting side note, this dream happened a couple of months before 9/11. Probably just a coincidence, but kind of odd.)

Yeah. Additionally, I'm also not sure whether dreams are fiction or non-fiction.

Oh don't get me started on that, I'll need an entire 5000 word post. 😂

Hum. I don't die, get pierced or pummeled much, if at all in the dream world. All my nightmares seem to be I can't get from some here to some there (Usually home.). Flooded river, bridge washed out. Lost or no plane ticket. Jeep's gassed and loaded by no idea of the route.

Freud and Jung would have a few things to say about the whole “not reaching your destination” thing 😉

Ha, and I say Ha again! I prefer to see such as part of my ongoing quest, awake and a sleep, in search of, always just beyond reach, satori! Grin.

Freud and de Sade would relish interpreting your dream deaths, I suspect. 😉😉

Of course, that's the beauty of dreams, much like a David Lynch film or a Dali painting they offer a myriad of opportunities for creative interpretation.
