A few years ago I had the inspiration to do an art installation in a wooded glade for a meditative YouTube video.
I always loved the way that coloured and kinetic lighting dances on trees, it is a very beautiful and surreal experience to watch. It is also something that you don’t get to see too often.
So I rented a bunch of programmable DMX stage lighting from our local rentals place and I spent an entire day lighting up a large section of trees on my family’s property in the country.
As the sun went down and we turned on those lights it was quite a magical and mesmerizing thing to behold. A handful of family members who lived in the area came to watch and they agreed that it was pretty fantastic.
I spent several hours filming a variety of shots and I spent a couple of days editing it into the following video:
This was the very first video I ever posted on my Frater Seamus YouTube channel. I am sharing it with you now because as of today, after a full two years on YouTube it has received a total of 42 views.
I think that is a shame.
I don’t think it has such a low view count because it is poor quality or boring. I simply think that it was a new channel and the algorithm did not know what to do with it and so the video died the dreaded algorithmic death. It is a meditative art video, not an easy sell in the world of quick cuts and attention grabbing shorts.
So today I gave it a new title and description and I am sharing it with you in the hopes that it may find a new audience who appreciates the beauty of it.
Super creative, beautiful, and great integration of visuals with the music.
My six year old son watched it over my shoulder this morning, and he said it's an R. I. P. for a tree. There was a car accident on our street yesterday and a tree got knocked over, and he decided this is the tree's memorial.
